ART IN LEBANON NOW & LATE MODERN ERA, MAIE EL-HAGE

The talk will span comprehensively the history of Art in Lebanon, focusing on the late modern era from the French Mandate to the Independence of Lebanon. It will then tackle art throughout the civil war and after 1990, to conclude with a review of the contemporary period. The latter, will cover the main issues facing the art scene today, as well as the current art initiatives and main actors behind them.
About Maie El-Hage
Architect and Art historian Maie El-Hage graduated from the University of Essex in the UK with a Master of Arts in Art History and Theory. She is a published art journalist with ten years of teaching experience. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary art in the Arab world.
