ORIENTAL INFLUENCE IN BRAZILIAN RYTHMS

This one-off face-to-face interactive workshop at Instituto Guimarães Rosa - Beirut, is a unique opportunity for a percussive and relaxed musical experience where Brazilian and oriental rhythms are approached along with their origins, connections, and form of transmission.
Guilherme Gul, a Brazilian professional percussionist of Lebanese descent tackles throughout a 2-hour session, the influence of oriental rhythms in Brazilian music. The lecturer approaches how he uses these rhythms in his musical and didactic works showcasing the origin of Brazilian percussion instruments such as the zabumba, tambourine, and fiddle, among others.
You don't have a percussion instrument? That's not a problem at all as you will work with body percussion throughout the workshop. Anyone who has a percussion instrument at home can bring it.
Workshop will be conducted in Portuguese with English/Arabic support.
