Bendaly Family Music Tribute (Lebanon)
A residency program organized by Rumman and supported by the British Council. The residency involves local musicians working on performing a tribute to the Bendaly Family who are originally from Mina, Tripoli. The Bendaly Family emerged as a musical sensation in 1970s Lebanon, captivating audiences with their extraordinary talent and familial harmony. Comprising twelve members aged 9 to 24, they gained fame for their singing, dancing, and unique musical style. Their popularity extended beyond Lebanon, earning them acclaim in Syria and Jordan, where they performed extensively on TV and in live concerts.
Tarabeat (Lebanon)
Tarabeat is an electronic music act founded in 2016 in Beirut, Lebanon, now based in Melbourne, Australia. Tarabeat draws heavily from the traditions of Middle Eastern music, relying extensively on Arabic scales - maqams - and rhythms for their compositions. Tarabeat achieves its unique sound by supplementing traditional instruments such as Oud, Nay, Qanun, Violin, and Santur with sequencers, digital synthesizers, and bass guitars. The result is an energetic blend of dance music heavily inspired by Tarab, Sufi, and other regional folk music.
