THE BLUE HOUSE: A BEIRUTI STORY
ArtDu 30/03/2023 à 00:00 jusqu'au 30/06/2023 à 00:00
On August 4th 2020, when the world was engulfed in the COVID pandemic, a massive explosion in the port of Beirut caused widespread destruction to the city. The house known as Medawar 479, a well-known landmark facing the port, suffered substantial damage and was chosen by the Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) and the newly formed Beirut Heritage Initiative (BHI) for restoration. The Honor Frost Foundation stepped in to help. The Honor Frost Foundation was established in 2011 to support maritime archaeology, with a number of projects along the coast of Lebanon. The Blue House will provide a base for these activities. To celebrate the completion of the restoration of the Blue House, the Honor Frost Foundation invited ALBA (Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts) to organise a student exhibition in the house itself. A series of interventions have been created, entitled Once upon a Blue House. Elsewhere, we present the Honor Frost Foundation itself with a focus on Anfeh and Byblos, two projects supported by the Foundation.
The exhibition will be open on Thursdays and Fridays 10 – 6pm, or otherwise by appointment.
